Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek (8 Days)

Also famous as Annapurna Sunrise Trekking or Annapurna Panorama Trekking, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is one of the most popular and relatively easy treks that meander through the beautiful ethnic villages of Annapurna Region. The trek offers the spectacular mountain scenery along with charming villages inhabited particularly by the Gurungs & Magars, dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurnas with the picturesque peak of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Peak) dominating the skyline.

The Poon Hill at an altitude of 3120 meters is widely known for an amazing panoramic view of the Himalayan range such as Mount Dhaulagiri 8167 meters, Annapurna I 8091meters, Machhapuchhre 6998meters, Nilgiri 7041meters, Annapurna South 7219meters, Annapurna II 7939meters, Annapurna III 7555meters, Annapurna IV 7525meters, and Lamjung Himal 6988meters. A provocative glimpse of high mountains surrounding the area can mesmerize anyone who's the part of this awesome trek. Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (914m.)
On the first day, we drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (914m.) that takes about seven hours.This drive will take most of our morning time, leaving much of the afternoon to get a warming glimpse of Pokhara Valley and fall in love with its ethereal beauty. At the end of the day, we stay overnight in lodge.
Pokhara, situated in the Kaski district, is the land of pristine beauty adorned by the majestic Himalayas, lush green hill and pleasant weather. The place is loaded with luxuriant vegetation and dotted with shimmering lakes. Three out of the ten highest mountains in the world — Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Manaslu — are within 30 miles of the city. Due to its proximity to the Annapurna mountain range, the city is also a base for trekkers undertaking the Annapurna Circuit through the ACAP region of the Annapurna ranges in the Himalayas. This picturesque valley is also famous for such adventure activities as paragliding, rafting, rock climbing, canyoning, boating, fishing, golfing and cycling. Regarded the Nepal’s major adventure hub, it has reputation of being the second home for the tourists worldwide.

Day 02: Drive from Pokhara (915 m.) to Nayapul (1050m.)
On the second day, we drive from Pokhara (915 m.) to Nayapul (1050m.)that takes one and half hours. We begin our trek from Nayapul (1050m.) and pass via Birethanti (1065m.). The first part of our trek is comfortable, alongside numerous small hamlets and settlements. Afterwards we ascend gently to the final destination of the day to Tikhedhunga (1577 m). The journey will involve four and half hours of trekking. At the end of the day, we stay overnight in lodge.

Day 03: Trek from Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani (2675 m.)
The third day starts with a six hour trek from Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani (2675 m.). Our trek begins with a steep 2 hours ascend and then level gently passing through  Magar villages of Ulleri (2070m.) and Banthanti. On the way, we can see the scenic view of Machhapuchhare or Fish Tail (6997m.), Hiunchuli (6441m.), and Annapurna south (7219m). Now our trail becomes easier, as it passes through the forest and descends gently to the final camp. At the end of the day, we stay overnight in lodge.

Day 04: Trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3180m.) and follow to Tadapani (2675m.)
On day four, we trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3180m.) and follow to Tadapani (2675m.).The total duration of the trek for the day is about five and a half hours. Early morning hike to Poon Hill (3232m.) allows we to enjoy the sunrise view over Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m.), Tukuche Peak (6920m.), Nilgiri (6940m.), Varaha Shikhar (7847m.), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna South (7219m.), Annapurna III (7855m.), Machhapuchhare (6993m.), Annapurna IV (7525m.), Annapurna II (7937m.), Lamjung Himal (6931m.) and other numerous snowcapped mountain peaks. En-route, we will frequently see waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, local birds and green vegetation. At the end of the day, we stay overnight in lodge.

Day 05: Trek from Tadapani (2675m.) to Ghandruk (1950m.)
On day five, we trek from Tadapani (2675m.) to Ghandruk (1950m.)that takes about three hours. It is an easy descent all the way, passing through the dense forest of oak, rhododendrons and fir. This is one of the popular destinations for the bird lovers. Ghandruk is a picturesque Gurung village famous for culture and traditional hospitality. At the end of the day, we stay overnight in lodge.

Day 06: Trek from Ghandruk (1950m.) to Pothana (1990m.)
On day six, we trek from Ghandruk (1950m.) to Pothana (1990m.)for about six hours. The early part of our trek is a steep descent following the stone staircase to Kimbu (Bee hive). Kimbu or Bee hive is located at the elevation of 1200 meters on the bank of Modi Khola. Now, our trail steeply ascends following the stone staircase up to Landruk. The trail ascends gently for the first two hours and again ascends steeply for an hour to Deurali (2150m.) passing through Tolkha village (1850m.). Tolkha is a vantage point to see the panoramic views of Dhaulagiri I (8167m.), Annapurna South (7219m.), Hiunchuli (6441m.), Fishtail (6997m.), Annapurna III (7755m.), Annapurna IV (7525m.), Annapurna II (7937m.) and Lamjung Himal (6930m.). The rest of the trail descends gently down to Dhampus passing through Pothana village (1900m.). At the end of the day, we stay overnight in lodge.

Day 07: Trek from Pothana to Dhampus Phedi (1113m.)
On day seven, we trek from Pothana to Dhampus Phedi (1113m.)that takes about four hours. The trail descends gradually for at least an hour and follows gravel road for two hours. It then steeply descends to Phedi passing through Dhampus village, a romantic rural setting of paddy fields and forests protected by local community. Upon our arrival at Dhampus Phedi, we could take a vehicle to reach Pokhara. At the end of the day, we stay overnight in lodge.

Day 08: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu
On the eigth and final day of our trip, we drive from Pokhara to Kathmandufor about seven hours. On the way we will head up to Damauli, Dumre, Muglin and Kurintar, where Nepal's first cable car joins the Manakamana Temple.
