Highlights

Overview

Lying in the north of Pokhara, the Annapurna Base Camp is a high glacial basin below a ring of eleven of Nepal's major peaks. This magnificent amphitheater is called a sanctuary' not because of laws that protect wildlife within its boundaries but because of its natural serenity, beauty, and the divine presence of the Hindu goddesses Annapurna and Gangapurna. One can sit in the Sanctuary meadows at 13,200' (4000 meters), enjoying the views of these majestic mountains towering several kilometers above in all directions. To approach this isolated cirque of peaks, there is one route: a deep gorge that carves into the fortress of mountains between Machhapuchhre and Hiunchuli, where lie some giant peaks like Machhapuchhre, as well as Annapurna-I and II, Annapurna South, Gangapurna, etc.
Annapurna Sanctuary is well known for its most dramatic natural scenery: deep valleys, gorges, high mountain passes, sub-tropical to alpine vegetation, a Buddhist monastery, Muktinath Temple, ancient villages, ethnic people's cultures, and their lifestyles. This incredible journey begins with trekking across rhododendron forests and crystal-clear spouting waterfalls making their way from colossal snow-capped peaks and ends up bringing you into the heart of pure nature.
Anyone willing to experience the beauty of mountains and their periphery can become a part of this moderate trek. The combination of easy walking and majestic scenery makes the trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4200m) one of the most popular treks in Nepal. Enjoy the unique terrain, mountain views, rhododendron forests, and communities with diverse cultures as you venture deep into the Annapurna Himal and its sacred sanctuaries. Make sure to head for this trek with your camera rolls on and take back home the extraordinary mementos of a lifetime.
As everything stated above, Plan Nepal Trek & Expedition (P.) Ltd. offers you the best trek and expedition through our immaculate services, professional staff, and veteran guides.

THE IDEAL SEASON TO VISIT

The best seasons to travel to Poonhill are spring (March and April) and fall (October and November). These seasons are quite dry and warlike. It's not advised to hike during the monsoon season (May to September) due to the higher risk of landslides and floods. The winter months (December, January, and February) are the driest and coldest months of the year. Since the Poon Hill trek is not very steep, it is unlikely that you'll get much snow even in the winter.
